At RADA, one of our core objectives is to help shift people’s perspectives and create a better understanding of those around us. With all the restrictions and rules of the past year there is a heightened sense of frustration and many find an opportunity to vent when hidden behind the steering-wheel of their car. We encourage you to exercise empathy for others and recognise the struggles that many individuals in various communities have had to endure.
If anything, the past year has taught us that this life journey is fleeting. It’s therefore important to find a way to unite instead of divide. Be kind even through your challenges and frustrations keeping in mind that this will pass.
Don’t let the behaviour of others determine the way you behave, rise above these situations and remain calm, kind and positive. Your reaction is your choice and that choice influences those around you, it’s a ripple effect of energy.
For the month of March, RADA focuses on taxi drivers, the daily commuters and the issues that sometimes lead to road rage. RADA’s purpose here is to remind the public to be mindful of the strenuous working conditions of taxi drivers as well as the hardships faced by commuters who use these services.
RADA has endeavoured to highlight the challenges of this hard-working sector, by inviting various individuals including CEO’s and well-known entertainers to participate in a dash around the city using only minibus taxis and armed with a very limited budget. The aim being for them to experience the daily commute of employees, colleagues, friends and family. Taking the time to ‘walk’ a day in the life of others.
This has been an eye-opening experience for many, leaving them with newfound respect for commuters who use public transport daily. These individuals play and important role in keeping the country functioning and are an integral part of the economy.
RADA’s monthly campaigns are based on the premise that one person can make a difference and that when you change yourself, you raise your resonance, creating a ripple effect of positive change. The aim is to marry action with awareness and in turn change the way we react in different scenarios. You don’t have to be exceptional and you don’t have to exert yourself beyond your means. In the end, all it takes is to do one small thing differently, empowering others with the belief that they may do the same.
