Vaaloewer Combined School

Vaaloewer Combined School is situated in Cloverdale, Bloemhof in the Northwest Province.

The school caters for 570 learners ranging from Grade RR to Grade 12.  Vaaloewer is located in a low to no income area where illiteracy is prevalent, and the community is challenged by drug and alcohol addiction.

Learners are dependent on the school’s feeding scheme which provides them with breakfast and lunch daily.

The school is run by a team of 27 teachers and five general workers.  The 570 learners are taught in 16 classrooms, most of which are in need of renovation.

Vaaloewer Combined School is classified as a quintile one non-fee-paying school and receives subsidies from government to cover only the basic operational costs.

RADA was introduced to Vaaloewer Combined School in April 2026 and recognized it as a place where we could provide meaningful support.  With the help of sponsors, we are now contributing to the school’s feeding program ensuring that vulnerable children receive the nutrition they need.  RADA will continue to assess and assist with the needs of Vaaloewer Combined School, its staff, students and the broader community.
