Dont Cryh Early Learning Centre

Dont Cryh Early Learning Centre is situated in the small rural village of Mohlaba-Cross, close to Tzaneen in Limpopo province.  The current staff compliment of six, takes care of 30 pre-schoolers during the week.

The centre was started in 2019 by Antoinette Molomdobozi who saw the need to prepare the local children for early childhood development education.  In addition, employment opportunities have been created for locals in the village at the pre-school.  Dont Cryh, a registered non-profit that does not receive funding from government, consists of two rooms in the tiny building.  One is used as a classroom and the other is a rest area for the children.

The centre supplies the children with food daily.  However, due to the remote location of the village food supplies are scarce and expensive.  The children’s food is prepared over an open wood fire as there is no electricity available.

Many of the learners are reliant on the school’s daily feeding scheme.  This is generally the only food they get for the day.  Surplus food is shared with three vulnerable families in the village.

RADA was introduced to Dont Cryh Early Learning Centre in April 2023 and after visiting the premises and meeting the staff, RADA decided that it was a place we could assist and support going forward. With the help of sponsors, we will continue to assess and assist with the needs of the centre, its staff, pre-schoolers and the community.
