The Centre was established by a small group of women living in rural Gothenburg near Manyeleti. Since most of the local residents are uneducated and unemployed they depend on government grants to survive, with little to no money available to send their young children to pre-school. This resulted in the children struggling to adjust to primary school.
Early Bee Day Care Centre gives the children growing up in the area a chance to experience the routine of school and an opportunity to learn the basics before they move on to ‘big school’.
The Centre is run by eight volunteers who take care of forty-eight children, teaching them important skills to promote their physical and mental development. Since Early Bee opened its doors, eighty children have benefited and graduated from the Day Care. The Centre has received some support from sponsors in the area who have assisted with building two classrooms, an office, kitchen and toilet for the staff and children.
RADA was introduced to the Early Bee Day Care Centre in February 2025 by representatives from RADA adopted school – Manyeleti Primary School. RADA decided that it was a place we could assist and support going forward. With the help of sponsors, we will continue to assess and assist with the needs of Early Bee, its staff, pre-schoolers and the community.
