Mpumelelo Secondary School

Mpumelelo Secondary School situated in the small rural village of Bundu, Mpumalanga, is a public senior school for 550 learners and has a teaching staff compliment of 17.

The school was established in 1985 as a ‘no fee’ school.  Learners are exempt from paying school fees as many of them live with their grandparents who depend on a small government grant.

Food parcels are provided monthly to 56 orphans who are enrolled at the school.  Approximately 80% of learners are reliant on the school’s feeding scheme, providing them with lunch daily.

Teachers at the school contribute towards uniforms for some of the learners who cannot afford school clothes.  They also offer support by donating food and toiletries to various needy learners. Many of the children in the area are unable to attend high school as they are obligated to find work to support their family.

RADA was introduced to Mpumelelo Secondary School in February 2023 and decided that it was a place that we could assist and support going forward. With the help of sponsors, we are now providing food to the school for their feeding programme supporting the vulnerable children at the school. RADA will continue to assess and assist with the needs of the school, its staff, the children and the community.
