Nyabela Primary School situated in the small rural village of Nkangala, Mpumalanga, is a public senior phase primary school for 465 learners and has a staff compliment of 27.
The school was established in 1976 by the village chief in order to provide education to mostly Ndebele speaking learners in the area. It is registered as a Section 21 school where learners are exempt from paying school fees due to many of the parents being unemployed and dependant on odd jobs for income.
Extra murals at the school include netball, soccer, athletics, volleyball, drama, traditional dance and choir.
The school runs a feeding scheme for its learners providing them with lunch daily. Nyabela supports the community by offering its facilities and resources to be used for village gatherings, such as meetings and funerals.
RADA was introduced to Nyabela Primary School in February 2023 and decided that it was a place that we could assist and support going forward. With the help of sponsors, we are now providing food to the school for their feeding programme supporting the vulnerable children at the school. RADA will continue to assess and assist with the needs of the school, its staff, the children and the community.
