Orange Farm Ext 7 Clinic

Through the Thato KeMatla Orphanage, RADA was introduced to the Orange Farm Ext 7 Clinic. Approximately 400 people from the community visit the clinic per day. The clinic is maintained by ten qualified nurses and one medical doctor who visits the clinic once a week.

The high volumes of people accompanied by the stress of limited resources creates many frustrations including long waits to receive medical help. RADA aims to assist the medical staff and the community by providing practical solutions to alleviate the limited resources and ultimately reduce the long wait.

Together with the clinic, RADA identified a solution to alleviate the long wait problem. A RADA sponsor, STS Solutions, came on board to assist. On Mandela Day 2017, RADA visited the clinic with STS Solutions to donate three gazebos which include separate attachable walls for privacy if needed. These extra rooms allow for more patients to be seen in a day, resulting in shorter waiting times and less crowded waiting areas. Limited treatments of patients can also be done in the gazebos including providing a space to distribute medication and to assist the clinic’s “Mothers to Daughters” counselling programme for young women.

The dedicated nurses who work at the clinic were very appreciative to receive the gazebos and STS Solutions staff enjoyed their trip to Orange Farm to witness the difference we were making together.
