March marks the launch of the 2026 RADA Inspire campaign, a movement grounded in one clear belief: when perspective shifts, behaviour follows.
RADA continues to challenge society to rethink reactions, assumptions and daily choices. The Inspire campaign was founded on a simple but powerful premise. One person can influence change. One action can create a ripple effect. One day at a time, communities can become safer, kinder and more aware.
RADA continues to deepen its focus on road safety, building on several years of consistent awareness and measurable action.
South Africa’s road statistics remain deeply concerning. Pedestrians continue to account for approximately 40 percent of road fatalities nationally, with Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal consistently recording the highest numbers. Thousands of families are affected every year. Behind every statistic is a life, a future and a community altered forever.
RADA has chosen to address this crisis at its foundation. Behaviour on the road does not begin in adulthood. It begins with awareness, understanding and habit formation from a young age.
In response, RADA conceptualised and launched Project RASI, an engaging animated road safety initiative designed to teach communities, especially young children, the basic but critical principles of crossing a road safely. The Road Awareness and Safety Instructor, affectionately known as RASI, delivers practical guidance in a format that is accessible, memorable and scalable.
What began as a collaborative response to concerns raised by the South African Police Service and Community Policing Forums has grown into a nationally recognised intervention. Endorsed by the Road Traffic Management Corporation, the RASI video has now reached more than 1,329,846 learners across over 3,024 schools in 17 regions throughout Southern Africa. The programme continues to expand its footprint, equipping children with life-saving knowledge and empowering educators and communities with practical tools.
RADA’s message extends beyond the classroom.
Road safety is not only about rules. It is about attitude. It is about how we respond in moments of frustration. It is about recognising the shared responsibility between drivers, pedestrians, public transport operators and private citizens. The taxi industry, which transports the majority of daily commuters and plays a vital role in sustaining the economy, forms part of this complex ecosystem. Progress requires mutual respect, calm decision-making and collective accountability.
The 2026 Inspire campaign therefore combines education with reflection. It calls on individuals to pause before reacting, to respect fellow road users and to model the behaviour they wish to see. Lasting change begins when each of us accepts responsibility for the role we play on our roads.
RADA remains committed to marrying awareness with action. The campaign continues to raise critical conversations, distribute practical tools and work alongside key stakeholders to strengthen community safety from the ground up.
