Shifting peoples’ perspectives with the intent to create a better understanding of those around us, is one of RADA’s main objectives.
Through the annual RADA Inspire campaign, RADA creates awareness by encouraging society to reflect on the way they perceive things with the aim to ultimately change their thoughts and encourage more positive behaviour.
During March RADA draws attention to the important topic of road safety.
According to a report by The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), the most significant challenge currently on South Africa’s roads is the safety of pedestrians, with an average of 40% of all road fatalities been pedestrians. KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and Gauteng provinces have the highest pedestrian deaths recorded at more than 50% in the three provinces, exceeding the national average year on year. Furthermore, 36% of all pedestrians killed are aged between 25 and 39, while 18% fall in the 0 to 14 years age bracket. An alarming statistic.
A possible solution to curbing pedestrian fatalities is to revisit the basics principles of crossing a road. RADA has created a fun interactive road safety animated video teaching young and old how to cross the road safely with their RADA character named RASI, the Road Awareness and Safety Instructor.
The RASI road safety video, endorsed by The Road Traffic Management Corporation of South Africa (RTMC) will be distributed to an extensive audience throughout South Africa aiming to empower and educate communities.
