March marks the start of the 2024 RADA Inspire campaign – an initiative created to ignite inspiration and promote positive change in communities. The aim is to marry action with awareness, moving forward inch by inch and making a difference in people’s lives one day at a time.
During March RADA focuses on raising awareness, starting conversations and finding practical solutions for various aspects of Road Safety. The statistics on road accidents during the 2023/2024 festive season are alarming where pedestrians accounted for 40.9% of those who lost their lives. Much needs to be done by us all to find ways to try and curb these fatalities.
RADA has tackled the issue by focusing on educating young children on how to cross a road safely. After being approached by contacts within the South African Police Service and Community Policing Forum to assist in finding a way to educate communities on the basics of how to safely cross a road, Project RASI was conceptualised and created. RADA introduced the engaging animated video featuring the friendly character RASI (Road Awareness and Safety Instructor) to schools in May 2023. The response has been phenomenal, RASI has reached 864 schools, 332 438 learners, across 17 diverse regions thus far.
RADA encourages individuals and communities to focus on making our roads safer by respecting fellow road users as well as treating everyone with kindness and understanding. Together, we can make a difference, together we can save lives.
Be the Way …Be the Change …One Day at a Time.
