Heritage month stirs up a sense of unity in a society that may sometimes feel divided. During September we celebrate the wonderful and diverse cultures and traditions of South Africa.
In a world where most of us currently feel isolated or depressed and in a country struggling with frustration, anger, aggression, fear and turmoil, it is a real challenge to find one’s balance and sense of calm… that happy space. So often we are told to think positively but with the negative distractions around us, this can be difficult to do.
RADA is motivated to bring about positive change to those living in South Africa by working with and supporting various vulnerable communities whilst sharing a message of tolerance and respect for others.
Individuals are encouraged to focus on the positive aspects in their day-to-day life and in doing so also work on changing their behaviour. Life can feel overwhelming at times, but change is possible when we begin to change the way we think and behave towards others. Reach out and do one small positive thing for someone else every day, your kindness will have an impact.
Start with the things you are able to influence and change by believing in the good and the positive. Keep moving forward, keep growing and keep dreaming. Make the world around you the place you want it to be. Life is full of choices; we have the power to enrich our lives or impoverish it. Let us celebrate our cultural diversity and cultivate our sense of unity, a shared bond that we as South Africans can truly be proud of. Ubuntu – “I am because we are”
