Tshiya Day Care Centre is situated in an area called Poding-Tse-Rolo which is part of the small rural town of Philippolis in the Free State province.
The Day Care Centre was started by Analleta Mokokoane in May 2019 in order assist the mothers in the neighbourhood who desperately needed a safe space for their toddlers while at work during the day.
Tshiya is run by three staff who take care of thirty-three children aged between three months and five years old. It is faced with the challenge of keeping up with expenses which includes rent and staff salaries. The parents are not always able to pay the fees because work is not consistent, and they live below the breadline. The centre receives no support from local government, therefore donations and assistance from the outside is desperately needed.
Mrs Mokokoane has a nursery school teaching background and does her very best to make sure that the toddlers are happy and well taken care of.
RADA was introduced to Tshiya in August 2021 by representatives from Tiger Canyon Private Game Reserve situated just outside the town. After visiting the premises and meeting the staff, RADA decided that it was a place we could assist and support going forward. With the help of sponsors, we will continue to assess and assist with the needs of the centre, it’s care givers, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
