Noordwyk Secondary School situated in Midrand, is a state-owned public senior school for 1,532 students and has a total staff compliment of 56.
The school was originally started on a property in Glen Austin in 2011 and the new school was built and occupied in 2014. Noordwyk Secondary strives for excellence through quality teaching and extra-curricular activities, providing learners with the necessary resources and support.
Extra murals at the school include cricket, rugby, soccer, netball, band, choir and robotics. The science and computer labs are currently used as extra classrooms because space is a challenge for both learners and teachers. Noordwyk is constantly focused on keeping the number of children per class as low as possible in order to maximise the quality of teaching in each class.
The school runs a daily nutrition programme for the learners providing approximately 600 learners with lunch. For many this is the only food they get for the day.
There is a fully functional and involved School Governing Body at Noordwyk who meet regularly.
The school supports the local community by allowing organizations to use the school property for services and sporting activities.
RADA was introduced to Noordwyk Secondary School in September 2022 and decided that it was a place we could assist and support going forward. With the help of sponsors, we are now providing food to the school for their feeding programme supporting the vulnerable children at the school. RADA will continue to assess and assist with the needs of the school, its staff, the children and the community.
